Something *happy*...something serious...

Well, these aren't pics of my whole Halloween tree ~ just a few ornaments. My little one got a hold of the tree {not a shock of course} so it's a bit lopsided...{I can hear my Mom's voice now: "I can't have ANYTHING nice with you kids!"} ANYWAY...these are just a few of my faves~I'm sure I'll embellish them more next year. They just make me *happy*!

Yippee-serious stuff:

My Aunt died 6 1/2 years ago of colon cancer in her mid 40's. Too young. She was a wife, Mom, kindergarten teacher...a beautiful, much-loved, full of life woman. We were told that since we were family {although that has little to do with it} that we should be aware of the signs and PAY ATTENTION. Well, I had reason for concern a few days ago and today I had a colonoscopy-YIPPEEDOO! I know for some this is TMI~just want everyone to know that it is NO BIG DEAL! It's not embarrassing, humiliating, or painful at all. I saw my Aunt wither and die from this horrible thing and I was there with her when she passed and people let me tell you, it was an awful way to go. She left a husband, two kids, and a whole bunch of people that love and miss her like crazy. I know this is Breast Cancer Awareness month and like the rest of you I've been poking and prodding my breasts every other day~I thank God that early detection is possible. No early detection for colon cancer-It's called the silent killer for a reason...find out the signs and pay attention! If we know what we should look for, at least we can feel empowered knowing that we are doing all we can. So anyway ... truly small price to pay when there are people who love and depend on you...I promise, it's NO biggie! Hey, if Katie Couric could get the procedure done on national television...

On a funny note:

The Dr. doing the procedure was an 80's music fan {something to smile about while awaiting my little "nap"}. I got to hear some Foreigner, Journey("Don't Stop Believing"~ LOVE IT!), and as I was going "out":

"Paradise By the Dashboard Lights" by Meatloaf.

It's been forever since I heard that one-cracks me up! I almost started laughing...well, almost.

I hope no one was offended by this entry (holy cow-did I just make a funny?) but if in some little way it makes someone aware....well, you know.

I'm very sorry you lost your aunt especially in this way.It is very hard to watch and I'm really sorry that you had to go through that.
I'm assuming that everything went well with you, and I'm glad it did...
p.s. I really like your Halloween tree decorations!
