What?!?

Ahh, my Delaney. You never know what's going to come out of that pretty little mouth of hers. Yesterday was a good one. I bought a copy of Fitness magazine a few weeks ago ~ there was an article in it about walking ~ and that's what I want to get in a better habit of now that the weather is ever so slightly getting cooler. On the cover ~ Brooke Shields ~ beautiful as always with a tiny bit of midriff showing. Delaney says, "She's so pretty-really pretty. Her skin is pretty too-the skin on her stomach. It's not bumpy at all and it's smooth." Huh...what does she mean by that? What is she talking ab .... "Ohhhh, she doesn't have stretch marks. Is that what you mean?" I say. "Yeah, it's smooth." she says.

Wellllllll. What to say? Nothing to say. I could tell her how I slathered every over-the-counter balm and goop over my huge hump of a stomach every night of both my pregnancies. I could tell her how I ate well and drank my weight in water every day. I could say that all the experts say that it's purely genetics and nothing else that makes the difference. I could tell her that I consider my stretch marks a badge of honor, proof that I carried she and her sister inside my belly, close to my heart...But she's 7-all she sees is Brooke Sheilds has a smooth, "not bumpy" stomach, and her Mom doesn't. I said the only thing that I thought would make sense to my sweet 7-yr old... "It's your fault."

Yea....as our DOA stated the "magic"

(there is a reason photoshop costs $650 by itself)

And what is magic really? Slight of hand?...every magician has tools of the trade. Photoshop (the tool) is the tool of the photographer (magician).

I look at magazine covers and often say "wow-there was an photo-editor that made a lot of money from that work!"

Just keep in mind- what these "super-stars" look like in "real person"...I mean hell- I'd probably run in horror if I ever stumbled into Angelina Jolie on the street.

I tell myself all the time- dang- Your husband and I lucked out! Your parents did something right! there's not one ugly kid! And it seems that we are keep the tradition with all of our kids!
