Here's my current crafty spot (taken before Valentine's Day~real plant by the way~I'm no faker*!*)This corner unit (that was built by my cutie pie Daddy)is in the kitchen (there is a pair of cabinet doors below...the shot was too close to the floor and my dust bunnies were peeking out from behind, thus the cropped photo) next to my very large kitchen table where I do my crafty *thing*.
I can do NOTHING crafty while Mallory (the 2yr old) is awake...it all looks like such fun to her and it's right where she can grab it. Yep, she poured tacky glue on my living room chair and has used the glue stick as "lip kick" (lipstick) more times than I care to remember. Pretty much my craftiness is limited to any time the crazy kid is sleeping~she only naps for about 1 1/2 hours anymore and I usually do the blah housework during that time. The kiddos go to bed around 7:30 and after cleaning up dinner it's about 8:30...well, sometimes I make the mistake of sitting down. You know what I'm talking about...you sit JUST for a minute...then you start feeling the day leaving your body. It's like some invisible plug in your toes is pulled and all of your energy starts to drain out...and you can feel your level sinking sinking sinking. Well, the other mistake I make so I can *get my craft on* at night is drink coffee. Y'all, I can't drink caffeine...I get crazy. We weren't allowed to have it as kids and I guess my body is making up for it...I'll be up for HOURS if I have just 1 cup. SOOO, it's not uncommon for me to get to bed at 2:30am (which is my usual)...and our alarm goes off at 6:00am... Yup, I'm nuts. And if I DO get some crafty time, it includes about 30mins. of getting stuff out and 30mins. of putting back (can't leave all of my loot on the kitchen table...argggghhhhh)
Soooo....
I'm moving my stuff here:
Scary....
This is the box of stuff I took from my parents house. I kept making excuses not to take it("Mom, we're in this little apartment." , "Mom, but the house is so small." , "Mom, we're still moving in." What I was thinking probably was "Mom, it'll mean I'm a grown up.") but, one day she just got tired of it and brought it to me. Anywhoooo... here's some funny stuff I found inside:
Why did I keep these?
What are you supposed to do with all of this?
I kept these cuties in a tin and, I'm not joking...they still smell wonderful*!* Happy happy stuff :)
that kind of cr*p doesn't happen after you're married...sorry Hon ;)
Now my crafty stuff is in limbo because half of it is in the kitchen and I can't figure out how to get it all in the closet where the other half is (aka Taj Mahal).
STUFF STUFF STUFF.......AAARRRGGGHHHHHHH*!*
I'll figure it out somehow!
Ok, enough of that mess...
I saw this awesome line from KI Memories that comes out next month...I LOVE IT*!* I swear I will not buy another thing (I don't have my hand on the Good Book or anything though) until then just so I can buy as much of it as possible....so colorful and happy*!* LOVE LOVE LOVE IT*!*
Blah blah blah....
Hmmm...product review...shouldn't I be getting paid or something?
Have a great day all yous guys*!*

I have a two year old, too (and a three year old). And like you, no crafting can occur while they are awake. Luckily I have a craft room that I can close off and leave projects ...
My answer to all the stuff from my parent's house was the basement. I still have report cards and programs - and my Strawberry Shortcakes. Do your's still smell?
I have the big ole cedar chest I got for college graduation....and it's chock full with notes, cards, letters, newspaper clippings, certificates, etc. Every few years, I sit and read through stuff and am able to toss a bit more out.....gives me room to toss current stuff in!! :)
I had those strawberry shortcakes too. I loved those!!!
Your craft space is looking awesome!!! I'm loving it. I finally got mine all organized again the other day...it was a total mess.
Man, you crack me up! I wish you lived near me so that I could get my daily Dianna dose!
You will just have to break down and either scan everything into your computer, take pictures of it all individually, or just say what the heck and throw it all out. I know it is hard because I have stacks and stacks of cards from hunny and the kids but ya just can't keep it all!
See you on the DOM!
I love your converted closet, it is awesome!
Scan it all into the computer. That's where everything that's on paper in my house is (except receipts and stuff that you HAVE to keep). Unfortunately (or fortunately) I shredded all my notes and stuff from my childhood 'cause I'm a little bit crazy...
Anyway, your closet looks awesome and (because I have the same child issues as you) I'm seriously thinking you've inspired me to do something similar...maybe the space under my stairs - then I could be a person under the stairs:).
Dianna ~ Thanks for the VERY NICE post on my blog! Any blog w/ a Jimmy Buffett quote on it can't be bad either! I hope you'll get that cup of coffee and be back often. ~ jb///
the closet looks great!
The converted closet is awesome! I love it. You have great decorating taste!
I found lots of stuff like that too when I moved a few years back and I kept some of it and packed it away nicely in a rubbermaid tote and the rest I got rid of...I regretted it for a while but I do better without the clutter...good luck!!
Fabulous job on that closet! I wish I could suggest something about all the stuff you need to get into that space, but that is my solution to keeping my scrappy room clutter free, is by putting it in the closet. LOL But shhh don't share that detail with anyone.
Sorry to make this reply short, but I am totally exhausted and about to head to bed now. Hope all is good with you, and the glue sticks are safe and sound.
the closet looks great. YOu want to come do mine now? I understand about having a little one in the way. Thanks goodness she is at her preschool during the day that I am home now or we would both go crazy. I have been doing some heavy duty housecleaning this week. AGH..not fun.
Closet is looking good.
I remember trying to sew when Robin was that age. I usually frantically tried to get as much done as I could when she napped.
OOOHHH I bet the Strawberry Shortcake figures smell nice. I love the colors in your craft closet. Made me think "Do I have a closet not crammed full that I could craft in?" The answer is NO.
I have a corner shelf like yours. I like your idea of turning it into a media spot.
