I've decided to start a little somethin' somethin' I will call
"What I Learned Today."
...because even though I'm a grown up,
it doesn't mean I know diddly squat.
Here goes:
*a pot of water does not boil unless the d*mn burner is turned on.
*if someone ever attempts to abduct me, I will fall limp into a lump on the floor. This works very well for my 2 yr old~I can hardly handle her little self when she's a puddle of dead weight.
*it is hard to hide it when you accidentally shave the same leg twice (and forget the other leg all together...)
*when you realize later in the day that you've forgotten to shave said leg, don't go and dry shave it and apply OFF! bug spray 15 mins. later...ouch.
*no one really gives a flip or notices when you only shave one leg.
*it's hard to get white Kilz paint out of a black dog.
No doubt with all of the (*ahem*) interesting things that go on around here I'll be able to easily keep this up. yikes.
On to our fun afternoon...
PaPou took us strawberry picking today*!*
PaPou took us strawberry picking today*!*
By us, I mean Sis and Bro-in-law's family and the girls and I. (Hubby and Yia Yia were still at work *sniff*) It was so nice doing something like that in the middle of a hum drum work week...AND we have a ton of these yummy little beauties to bring home*!*
PaPou trying to teach Mallory that you are only supposed to pick the red ones...PaPou has a BIG voice so wherever he was on the field with her, you could hear "NO NOT THAT ONE!" like she was choosing which finger to sever or something. He's so darn funny :)
One of these guys was a very unlucky berry indeed...

...he didn't feel a thing and boy was he YUMMY*!*
...he didn't feel a thing and boy was he YUMMY*!*
It was nice to be able to let Mallory just walk around without having to worry about her wandering off or hurting herself. Unless you have a kid like mine, you have NO idea how wonderful that truly is.
Didn't get a shot of him picking...but isn't he handsome?
As I was snapping pictures, I got very comfortable with the fact that Mallory was safely wandering around exploring. I started taking photos of these onion rows when I turned around to see this:

Yep....that's my kid.
PaPou said, "How on earth did that child find the one muddy spot on all of these acres of dry ground?"
Because that's my kid...
Three more things I learned today:
*no matter how many times you tell a kid to use the bathroom before you leave to pick strawberries in the middle of freaking nowhere, they will inevitably wait until you are in the middle of freaking nowhere to have to use the bathroom (or should I say ground?).
*although your 2yr old has never allowed all day ponytails before(much less with bows), she will let you on a day that you will be out in the middle of freaking nowhere where no one can see them.
*it is now 3:15am and if you are tired and stay up late to blog and watch "Memory Keeper's Daughter" you will bawl 10X more than you normally would otherwise.

1. Those strawberries are gorgeous, nothing like the ones we get at the store here!
2. Mallory and pigtails are oh-so cute!!
3. It looks like you had a wonderful, special, beautiful day. I love days like that.
4. What the heck are you doing up at 3:15am?? We talked about that girl!!
Great pictures. Wish I could have been there with you!
One more...I remember going strawberry picking with you and your mom when we were little. It was so hot but still a lot of fun.
Thanks for sharing your life lessons. These pictures are really nice. I hope you had a great day!
OMG!!! ROFLMAO!!! Thanks for the laughs and the lessons!!!
Your pictures, as ALWAYS, are absolutely amazing!!! And the picture of the view on your way home is drop dead gorgeous!!!
I feel for you with Mallory but keep telling yourself that it will get better and keep on laughing!!!
{{hugs}}
You would be so fun to hang with! Your daughter is not alone. One day when I was in 2nd grade, I came home with only one shoe. Lost it in the mud on the way from the bus stop. That's a whole story itself!
Yummy berry haul!
AWESOME! I totally did not know that the burner had to be turned on for water to boil...that explains EVERYTHING!
Love the strawberries, it's not the season for us yet. 2 weeks in June is all we get, but they are the most delicious strawberries evah!
OMG you are tooooo funny! Love the pics. Makes my mouth water looking at those strawberries, and makes me want to practice my photography skills! Wonderful pictures.
LOL at the things you learned today especially the shaving. Too funny. What a good time and I love all your beautiful pictures! Lucky girl to have fresh strawberries already. We're about two months away in the northeast.
Lesson learned-
Mud stuck shoe is priceless in a photo. (mom might not be happy, but a viewer of that said photo is.) LOL
Now about that missed shaved leg...big oops ... that one would doom me in, gosh I may have nightmares tonight about forgetting a leg... LOL
Girlie you are such a hoot, but now it's time for Grey's and after months of reruns, I must watch this new one.
What a fun day! I love all your pics but Mallory's muddy feet one & the sunrise are absolutely perfect. BTW, Delaney is looking more like you, I think, every day.
I have Memory Keeper's Daughter DVR'd but haven't watched it yet. I bawled at the book enough so I know I will cry at the movie. Get some sleep:)
So glad you found my blog....cuz now I have found yours! You are a hoot girl! I needed a good laugh today! Your kiddos are adorable and your pics amazing! Will come to visit again for sure! : ) (Love this song too!!!)
Those strawberries are lucious!! Our strawberry season should be just about here so I am going to have to keep an eye out for local berries. Sorry, I don't do strawberry picking.
Pictures are beautiful.
Just remember, the terrible twos will pass.
Mally Poo's hair is so cute in piggies. Grandaddy is smiling. And that one of Big Sis taking a bite of her freshly picked goods. Is BEAUTIFUL!

oh my gosh..I totally understand about the hair. Addie won't let me fix her hair and I have to threat that we will not go anywhere until she lets me fix it. BUT she will let her teachers at the preschool fix her hair all the time.
What a BEAUTIFUL shot! ~ jb///
