Busy weekend here...which included Delaney placing in another 5K. I'm so stinking proud of that kid*!* She ran with her Daddy and Mallory and I walked...it was a nice day but wow is it starting to get hot here y'all!
They're even cute all hot and sweaty... Delaney was so excited to wear her Livestrong t shirt for the race. That kid is getting so big.
Well, I decided I was going to make Mother's Day gifts this year. It was one of those things that seemed like an inexpensive, easy project. Here's the first step... it was my first time using modeling clay. They're fresh from the oven!
It was SO fun! I'm definitely going to use this stuff again...my only complaint is that I wasn't careful and left the impression of my fingerprints in some places. (Thought that paint and clear coat would cover them up...)
I am SO in love with these little guys!
I made terrariums for everyone this year. I learned quite a bit through the process. For instance, this is my Mommy's and was supposed to be SO much smaller! I accounted for everything to fit horizontally but...turns out after you add rocks, the layer of loose charcoal and the soil, you also have to have room for roots. Duh right? The container I had was too small so I ran out Saturday night and found this cookie jar at good ole WallyWorld for $7.98! Not bad if you've ever priced those apothecary jars people use instead. (I SOOOO wanted to use one of those!) She loved it...it made me feel all warm and fuzzy when I saw her reaction. I just love my Mommy!
The Aunts got a smaller version. Did I mention that I'm l o v i n g those mushrooms?!
My Great Aunt Sally was in town too (yippee! How cool is it that~my girls have a Great Great Aunt?) for Mother's Day and she got one too. I wish I could say that I made that cute little gnome (on hers and Mom's) but nope...maybe one day.
Doesn't he have the sweetest face? : )
This one is my Mother-In-Law's (I almost hate saying Mother-In-Law because she's SO not Mother-In-Lawish...I love her :) She loves birds...not plants so much (thus the moss). I started thinking that maybe I would just try to make a bird and see what would happen. As I started playing with the clay, I was thinking, "Hmmm....this is starting to look like a bird. Birds look like this right? Holy cr*p, this is looking like a bird. Holy cr*p...it IS a bird!" I was so excited. I know it sounds silly but I learned a lot more than I thought I would. The whole clay thing was something I always wanted to try...so I DID...and it WORKED! I'm so in love with the stuff now...I can't wait to try it again*!*

Something else I learned...measure the jar BEFORE you either make something to go in it or buy something to go in it. Yep, that bird looks a little claustrophobic to me. Seeing my MIL's face when she found out that I made the bird and mushroom is something I'll never forget...I've got fantastic women in my life. I am SO blessed*!*

That bird and mushrooms are the cutest things ever. Your terrariums turned out SO much cuter than the one you showed me on etsy, and I"m sure it was cheaper!! I've been wanting apothecary jars too. TJ Maxx has them fairly cheap but they are huge, I'm looking for a smaller version. I wouldn't have had the guts to try a terrarium though....how stinkin' cute!!! And homemade gifts are the BEST!!
Glad you had such a fun weekend. Those terrariums are the cutest darn things!
Where do you find tiny little gnomes?
Those are adorable! And I know what you mean about learning more than you thought I do that a lot
Oh my gosh, you are amazing!!! I love terrariums and you did a fantastic job, wished I was related!! haha Those mushrooms are the cutest ever, I'm just in awe (and a little jealous!!) haha
OMG! Arent' you the smartest creative-est green thumbery person in the whole world. Truly! Hope they all loved them! You are truly blessed that all the ladies in your life are awesome (including your amazing daughters)
Hope your Mother's day was Fab. Mine sucked, but I'm over it.
Onward onto better things...
How stink'in cute are your mushrooms & bird.... LOVE THEM! You crafy little gal...
Guess who's come about 20 minutes from my house???? David Cook! I might try and get some tickets Saturday. Of course I am sure I won't get up and close like you did, but you never know if I storm the stage or not. But, that might lead to be helped out of the concert area, by big burly men, and they might not be as cute as David, and that might make this stage storming attempt not worth it in the long run. hee he
You are so incredibly talented. I am crazy impressed. I wish I could come up with things like that!
Lovin your shrooms. That bird is adorable. Your mom's day gifts are off the charts.
Those mushrooms are adorable! Glad you painted them red and white, because at first they almost looked phallic. Then I shook off the dirty mind and looked again. ;)
Wonderful gifts!
This entire project will be copied, right down to the 'shrooms.
HOW COOL!
WOW she ran a 5K!! You have every right to be proud..WOW!!! I'm impressed...
