I don't call the summer officially over until Delaney goes back to school so I've got a few more days to wrap my "What I Did This Summer" report.
Here's the mini book I made for my MIL. She took us girls to Atlanta, GA to the American Girl Boutique and Bistro. We had a GREAT time and I made her this little book as a thank you. It's a layered chipboard book...I was so excited that I could fit one letter each of the words (thank you) on each page.
(Sorry about the pics, I should have re-shot them)

I decided to make a ribbon handle and attach the star cookie cutter to one of the rings. When you eat at the AG Bistro, they use the cutie tootie cookie cutters as napkin rings.
Delaney and her cousin on the car ride to Atlanta and waking up the first morning of our adventure with their AG dolls.

Lilly is another member of the family.
I used this little AG booklet for a page...I went a little Cuttlebug crazy with paper, felt, and fabric!
Georgia (she named her for the state we were in) is the newest member of the family.

Queen Yia-Yia and her girls :)
I knew I wanted to use the pretty scalloped coasters they use in the Bistro. The waitress was SO nice and slipped me a stack of them.

I snapped this one while MIL and SIL were trying on clothes in the dressing room of another store. The girls were dressing (and undressing and redressing) their new dolls. I really liked the way this page looked but this photo of it isn't so great : (

The page on the left was my first attempt at printing a clear overlay. I was surprised at how crisp it was...I will SO be using that idea again.

DESSERT*!*

Yep, that's my girl hopped up on dessert.
The apple doesn't fall far my friends...
Day 2 of the Atlanta adventure was for the BIG girls.
This is a map IKEA gives you with their suggested route through the store. I drew in the route we took...it's quite accurate. (they give you a little paper tape measure too so you can measure the furniture, shelves, etc...hey, if it's free, I'm using it.)

Two sleepy, thankful girls. I used one of the girls' doll boxes on the back cover and throughout the book for little embellishments. I realize that the mini books I've made thus far have been QUITE busy looking. I asked my MIL after giving her the book if she thought it was too busy and hard to look at and she said, "It's just like you."

Thaaaanks....I think.
I know what you meant Yia-Yia*!*
I need to work on my report!

The trip looked like lots of fun, they have one in Chicago, someday I would love to take youngest dd to it, she loves her American Girl. I believe she would freak seeing a store like that.
